I tried, I really have been trying to ‘Keep Calm’ but thinking you may be told that you may have a few months to live is a position that will test the calmest of us all!!!
I felt something unusual in my right testicle but thought nothing of it…put it to the back of my mind and got on with marathon prep as that was more important. But every time I went for a wee, there they or it was, reminding me that I should get it checked out.
I mentioned it to my girlfriend Kirsty, who rightfully said “Get it checked out!” but after a few days I told her that it had gone (LIAR!).
After a few “Have you done it yet?” texts from him I managed to get an appointment today with a cute, young asian Doctor (female!) not that it should make a difference but I’m about to drop my shorts and I was expecting an older man who had a set of balls not the scene from a porn film I might have seen when I was a lot younger!!! Anyway, I’m being silly but she thinks it’s to do with a blood vessel and I’m being sent for a scan soon.
So I’m not dying (I’ll wait for the scan before I celebrate) and I told Kirsty that she has to put up with me for a few more years (rest of her life but don’t tell her!) but the reason for this post is that I know that men and women can be embarrassed to get lumps checked out and my message is simple…just do it and do it as quickly as possible because CANCER waits for no one and will not take it into consideration how embarrassed you may be!
If my message wasn’t strong enough this one definitely is…RIP Michael Rushby aged 16
